cf. Neostylopyga propinqua
(African Bullet Roach)
cf. Neostylopyga propinqua (the African Bullet Roach) was originally collected on Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. As its name implies, this species is capable of running very fast. Thankfully for the blatticulturist though, not actually as fast as a speeding bullet. Specimens are very sleek at all life stages. They exhibit a dark base color with margins on the fronts of their bodies that transition from orange to red with age. When disturbed, colonies will produce a defensive odor strangely reminiscent of marijuana. 😅
