Definitions

Here you will find definitions for various husbandry-related terms used on this blog. 🙂

Enclosure
Hides: Objects that bugs can use for hiding/climbing, including paper towel rolls, egg crates, pieces of bark, etc. Hides can be situated horizontally for terrestrial species, or vertically for arboreal species.

Barrier: A slippery substance applied around the inside rims of enclosures to keep climbing bugs contained. Silicone oil seems to be the most effective barrier discovered to date. Things like petroleum jelly can also work, albeit not as well.

Food
Proteinaceous pet foods: Dog food, cat food, fish flakes, etc.
