Gyna caffrorum (Chrome Roach)

Gyna caffrorum (the Chrome Roach) is a beautiful Blattodean that ranges from Central to Southern Africa. It gets its common name from the trademark, silvery coloration that it features at adulthood. They present a classic example of sexual dimorphism among roaches with females measuring slightly longer than males, but much bulkier. Like many members of its genus, this species is a proficient flier. Mature males in particular are capable of staying in flight for minutes at a time!

G.caffrorum aren't particularly large or crowding sensitive, but they are extremely prolific, so their enclosure should have some space.

G.caffrorum aren't picky about their substrate as long as it holds moisture well, isn't abrasive, and is deep enough to burrow in.

G.caffrorum aren't picky about their food and can be fed an average roach diet.

Type - Fruits, proteinaceous pet foods, vegetables

Temperature
G.caffrorum can be kept into the low 70s, but grow and reproduce fastest at warmer temperatures.

Range - 70 F to 85 F
