Rhyparobia sp. "Gold" (Gold Medal Roach)

Rhyparobia sp. "Gold"
(Gold Medal Roach)

This species is simply one of the most underrated roaches in the hobby. Nymphs have eye-catching pale gold coloration that almost makes them seem as though they are perpetually teneral. Watering time is a joy to witness as individuals of all sizes bum-rush the scene to get their share of the liquid goodness. Like other members of the tribe Nauphoetini, adult roaches can squeak (quite adorably) in self-defense, as well as when bickering over food with colony mates. Adult males use their pronota to drum on enclosure decor during courtship - a behavior unique among currently cultured roaches.
