Dorylaea orini
(Orin's Roach)
This stunning roach was named after U.S bug hobby pioneer and author, Orin McMonigle. Nymphs are incredibly glossy and zebra-striped, with adults gaining plum red wings. These have some of the longest antennae of any roach in blatticulture, which they use both to communicate and sense the world around them. They do not enjoy sitting still and are quite skilled at jumping. The oothecae dry out very easily compared to those of most other roaches, which has presented issues for some keepers. This can be mitigated by limiting ventilation and providing a layer of leaves and bark to help retain moisture in the substrate below.
